Air Travel to Yorkshire
Yorkshire has three international airports serving visitors and residents alike. Worldwide links via the major hubs such as Amsterdam and London’s Heathrow make getting to Yorkshire easier than ever.
Located only a few miles away, over the Pennines (the Wars of the Roses were settled many years ago – so we won’t hold it against them) is Manchester International Airport. Numerous flights arrive here daily from the North American continent (and all the others, of course) making it a favourite with transatlantic visitors.
From any of these airports you’ll find numerous airport links to the town or city that is your destination.

Fly by Train – Get off to a flying start after your plane has landed at Manchester Airport. Catch one of the frequent TransPennine Express trains at the airport’s integrated transport hub direct to the heart of Sheffield, York, Leeds or Huddersfield.
Rail Travel to Yorkshire
We’ve already mentioned the cross-country TransPennine Express trains from Manchester airport. Yorkshire is also well served by trains from London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley in Scotland by way of the famous East Coast mainline. This is the route travelled by the romantic express trains of the Twenties and Thirties. Famous express trains such as the LNER’s Flying Scotsman and the record-breaking steam locomotive Mallard rode the rails here between London and Scotland. Of course the line is now much upgraded and modernised, but the route remains the same. The trains on this route are today run by LNER
Bus/Coach Travel to Yorkshire
The National Express coach service operates throughout the United Kingdom and offers great value, no-nonsense, frequent bus services to towns and cities in Yorkshire from just about anywhere in the country. For example, they have frequent services from Central London’s Victoria Bus Station and from the London airports at Heathrow and Gatwick.
Road Travel to Yorkshire
Yorkshire sits astride one of the major crossroads of our national motorway network. Linked to London by the M1 and Scotland by the A1, travel up and down the country couldn’t be easier. The Trans Pennine motorway, M62 links Hull on the East Coast with Manchester and Liverpool to the West.
Pick up a car rental at Manchester Airport and you’ll be in Yorkshire within the hour. Psst! – don’t forget to drive on the left in the UK! Hertz of course, are world renowned for efficient, value for money car hire.
Sea Travel to Yorkshire
P&O Ferries operate in and out of Hull on the River Humber. Travel overnight from Rotterdam or Zeebrugge. Arrive refreshed and raring to go!
