A walk around this beautiful village could be as energetic and bracing as a brisk jaunt over the fells – or as gentle and relaxing as a stroll along the banks of the River Wharfe. What would your choice be? Perhaps a cycle ride would fit in more with your mood? Certainly the paths and country lanes around here lend themselves very well to either.

To venture further afield would call for either a private or hire car to let you take your own route, in your own time. Or maybe a taxi tour would be more relaxing and your driver will probably tell you a little about the sights you see along the way. Service buses ply their trade between the dales towns and villages and are surely a colourful way of mingling with the locals

If you choose to visit in August, you may be lucky enough to be caught up in the annual Scarecrow Festival. Their festival is full of fun activities including scarecrow making contests, great food, dancing, entertainment and more. The festival is in celebration of their rich land for farming purposes.
